The warehouse structure consists of a reinforced concrete frame with side closures made of prefabricated panels. The internal dividing walls are instead made of plastered bricks. The pitched roof is made up of corrugated slabs of Eternit (fibre cement) resting on the reinforced concrete structure. The roof is intact, with the exception of the external perimeter. Large areas of the roof are covered with lichens and mosses. In the main compartment there is a false ceiling in asbestos panels, treated with covering resins, while in some office rooms and in the service area, plasterboard panels can be found. The window frames are in wood and single glass or in aluminium and double glazing in the service area. The port structures include five piers, four parallel and one oblique, forming as many basins, and approximately 3 km of quays. Starting from the 1970s, there has been a progressive abandonment of the historic warehouses, as the main port activities have been transferred to the New Port, causing their slow degradation.
